Okay, so now everybody claims to be “anti-fascist”. I guess that means the word fascist is yet another term that has lost all meaning.
The word Protestant used to have a precise historical meaning. Today the word seems to just mean any Christian who is not a Catholic or an Eastern Orthodox. The reason for the change in meaning is that “denominations” and “non-denominations” now number in the tens of thousands (or more?), which is the real enduring legacy of the so-called “Reformation”.
You should get some measure of peace from the knowledge that Jesus Christ will be your final judge. I mean, with all the religious quackery in the world, aren’t you glad to hear that your life will be judged by someone who is actually qualified?
I’ve got no use for movie and TV producers who think that fantasy works like those of JRR Tolkien or CS Lewis or Andrzej Sapkowski need to be “updated for modern audiences”. The whole point of works such as these is that they can’t be updated, only diminished.
Human nature being what it is, you can find various “lobbying groups” within the Catholic Church. Some of these groups are hyper-focused on liturgical rubrics and language. These folks are the Catholic version of “fundamentalists”. Some other groups are hyper-focused on leftist or feminist concerns. These folks are the Catholic version of “progressives”. And, of course, there are other groups of people who are focused on their own niche interests. Well, okay. But I steer clear of these Catholic lobbying groups. Why? First of all, because I can. Second, I became a Catholic because I don’t believe there’s a biblical justification for “denominations”. So by extension, I don’t believe there’s a biblical justification for hyphenated Catholics either.
